Long time without posting – but behind the scenes Syndicure was further improved, and now has some alpha-testers as well!
Just to prove that I actually put some thought into Syndicure: My bachelor thesis is now online (pdf, 3mb), together with the presentation I held on my colloquium (pdf, 6mb).

Alpha-Release · 834 days ago by Ingo Schommer

Whohoo, I'm proud to announce version 0.1.0 alpha! This release of Syndicure isn't yet ready for the public, but has all basic features of an RSS-reader in place. It will be evaluated in a private (invitation-based) testing-round - if you'd like to apply, please .

Kudos to the guys over at CakePHP, a Rails-like MVC-framework that makes PHP-development less of a headache. And thanks to CakeForge, who is currently hosting my Subversion-repository. (I could ennumerate a long list of opensource-projects that I profited from, but I guess I'll keep some for the next release ;)

Somebody call a doctor! · 834 days ago by Ingo Schommer

All of us info-junkies share a common burden: “information overload”. There’s just too much interesting stuff floating around on the net. How do we currently deal with the problem? We manage this constant flow of news via RSS, frantically clicking the magic “mark all as read”-button.

Most RSS-readers are dumb bean -counters when it comes to qualifying information. Others are aware of the problem, and try to cluster information by letting users collaborate and tag each piece of information. Unfortunately, they merely create more clutter (ever subscribed to a tag like “mac” or “google”?).

Syndicure helps: It’s a web-based RSS-reader with a better “signal-to-noise”-ratio – combining social features with an interface that does not get in your way. It also aids the user in “self-healing” by providing statistics on the personal reading behaviour.

Here’s the prescription:

Background: Syndicure is developed as a one-man-project (by chillu). I’m currently graduating as a Bachelor of Arts in Media Production in Darmstadt/Germany – and this is my graduation-thesis. And yes, the thesis has a deadline that should coincide with a beta-release…

In the meantime, stay tuned via rss or atom – and say goodbye to your old RSS-reader ;)
